Two Elephants found dead in TN

In a suspected case of electrocution, two elephants were on Sunday found dead near a farm in the Krishnagiri district of Tamilnadu. Forest officials said, the elephants, a male and a female, both aged around 40 might have come into contact with an electric fence around the farm at Lakachandra village while trying to enter the fields. A team of forest officials led by District Forest Officer Ganesan visited the village and conducted inquiries. However, no arrests have been made. He said, only low voltage power is allowed for fencing areas bordering forests to deter wild animals from damaging the crops and any violation would attract action under the Wild Life Protection Act.
