The two Election Commissioners V S Sampat and H S Brahma reached Lucknow Sunday evening to review the election preparations in Uttar Pradesh which will go to polls early next year.The Chief Election Commissioner YS Quraishi will be reaching on Monday. The commission will hold a meeting with senior state government officials.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the Commission has declared more than 50 Assembly segments as expenditure sensitive and misuse of election funds. These constituencies are from Lucknow, Mathura, Agra, Gautam Budha Nagar, Mainpuri, Bareilly, Raebareli, Chitrakoot, Gonda, Azamgarh and Ghazipur districts. The EC team is expected to meet the Director General of Investigations Income Tax and his team in Lucknow to review the deployment of I-T officials in money sensitive' constituencies. The Commission is also likely to discuss the menace of paid news and measures to check it during the poll. The commission had recently disqualified a BSP MLA Umlesh Yadav for incorrect statement of election expenditure incurred on news items. This was the first case of action by the EC to fight Paid News syndrome.
