Two-day national labour meet kicks off in Odisha from tomorrow

The two-day national labour conference will kick off in Odisha capital Bhubaneswar today. The event is being jointly organised by the state labour department and the International Labour Organisation. <br/><br/>Our correspondence reports that Union minister of state for labour and employment Bandaru Dattatreya and ministers and chairpersons of labour welfare boards of 29 states will attend the conference. <br/><br/>Major issues pertaining to social security of organised and un-organised sector labourers, child and bonded labourers, various welfare measures, skill development as well as wage issues would be discussed at the conference. <br/><br/>The conference will also likely to discuss about how to manage the labour welfare boards and regulate child labour laws in a better and effective ways. <br/><br/>The conference bears a lot of significance for the labourers and trade unions, who had recently staged strike on September 2 on various issues including minimum wage fixation and proper implementation of labour laws.
