A two-day Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) State Peer Learning cum Orientation Workshop for State and District Level Functionaries of Six states is underway at Jalandhar, today. The six states include Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.AIR Correspondent reports that it is emphasizing on new additions in the scheme and identification of roadblocks in its effective implementation. State wise revised wage rate for unskilled manual workers, Wage rates based on Consumer Price Index, involvement of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), Economic and Social Empowerment of Women through Equal Wages and Greater Work Opportunity are some of the important issues being discussed in the workshop. The workshop is being organised by National Institute of Administrative Research (NIAR) in coordination with the Punjab Govt.
