Two-day Education Fair 'Study in India' begins in Colombo

A two-day Education Fair 'Study in India' began in Colombo on Saturday to provide information and guidance on possible higher education opportunities in India, including courses, career prospects and fee-structure, in various disciplines. <br/><br/>The fair was declared open on Saturday by Sri Lankan minister of state for higher education Mohanlal Grero in the presence of acting High Commissioner of India Arindam Bagchi.<br/> <br/>The minister said that Sri Lanka shares close cultural and historical relations with India and it is appropriate for Sri Lankan students to choose India as their destination for higher studies. <br/>At least 16 Universities and Higher Education Institutions from India are participating in this event.<br/><br/>A large number of Sri Lankan students take admission in Indian Universities, every year, for under graduate and post graduate studies. <br/><br/>The proximity, cultural linkages and world class education at comparatively low costs have been the major attractions for Sri Lankan students to study in India. <br/><br/>India also provides a large number of full-time scholarships in various disciplines at under graduate, post graduate and doctoral level courses, administered through the High Commission of India, in collaboration with Ministry of Higher Education & Highways, Sri Lanka.
