In Kathmandu, the DAV School along with the B.P Koirala Foundation organized a two-day Devnagari Jagaran Sammelan. Inaugurating the conference, the Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy, Mr. Jaideep Mazumdar hoped the conferences would bring awareness of the Devnagari script and also further strengthen the close ties within India and Nepal. He said India has already included Sanskrit, Nepali in the eight schedules and is part of the official languages. The object of the conference is to bring more awareness among students and people at large the Devnagari script which is used in Hindi, Sanskrit, Nepali and Pali. AIR Kathmandu correspondent reports, sixty schools from Nepal are participating in the two-day conference in which various competitions in Hindi, Nepali, Sanskrit and Pali are being held.
