In Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi arrived in Varanasi this morning to inaugurate the two-day State Congress convention. State Congress President Rita Bahuguna Joshi said the party convention will discuss the strategy for the 2012 Assembly elections, besides the protest agitation against the high-handedness of the Mayawati government in acquiring agricultural land from the farmers. She said the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and other issues including corruption will be taken up during the convention. Several union ministers, and In-charge of UP affairs Digvijay Singh, CLP leader Pramod Tiwari and presidents of all frontal organisation of the state unit are expected to attend the convention.
