<br/>A two-day conference of State Food Secretaries begins in New Delhi today. The issue of reforms in the Public Distribution System is likely to dominate the agenda at the conference. <br/><br/>The Conference to be inaugurated by the Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Sharad Pawar, aims to share the best practices in public distribution and achieve their universal adoption. A Pilot Scheme on Smart Card-based delivery of essential commodities will also be launched at the conference. The scheme is being introduced in the State of Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
