Two-day Commerce Secretary level talks between Pakistan and India begin in Islamabad today. The Indian delegation is being led by Secretary Commerce Rahul Khullar while the Pakistani side will be led by Secretary Commerce Zafar Mahmood. This will be the second high level interaction between the two countries since the home secretary level talks in New Delhi in March, 2011. Ahead of the talks, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that constructive engagement with India is essential to move towards the goal of establishing good-neighbourly relations. Talking to Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir and Secretary Commerce and Trade, Zafar Mahmood, Gilani said that Pakistan wants to move towards comprehensive and broad-ranging engagements with India on the basis of equality, mutual interests and mutual respect. He asked the Secretary Commerce to take on board all stakeholders for establishment of mutually beneficial trade relations with India.
