Central government has agreed in principle to establish two 'Centers of Excellence' in Uttar Pradesh under N.H.M (National Horticulture Mission). This was announced by state horticulture minister Rajkishor Singh while presiding a review meeting of high officials of the department in Lucknow yesterday. He told that under NHM, a 'Green House' and a 'Shade Net' will be built in every district of the state in order to familiarize the farmers with specialised and protected farming of vegetables and fruits.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports quoting official sources that state government has issued instructions to all its district horticulture officers to submit projects to chief development officers of the concerned districts to utilize the funds available under MNREGA to enhance the horticultural production. The minister instructed all the high officials to expend the available budget under NHM before 30 September with total transparency. He said that the monsoon is the best season for horticultural activities in the state.He also said that special stress is being laid on betel farming under NHM in the state.
