New Media like twitter, facebook, whatsapp and youtube have erased the boundaries of communication and transformed everyone with smartphone into citizen Journalist. The Chairman of Prasar Bharati, Dr. A Surya Prakash said this during the inauguration of two days National Conference on 'New Media and Development' in Dharwad Karnataka University today. <br/><br/>Saying that the new media has enabled two way communication, he added a word of caution on its mindless usage. He felt a need to introduce an authority, an ethical framework and a new content code for the new media. Responding to a question by a Journalism student, he said public broadcaster Akashwani and Doordarshan have played a pivotal role in promoting social concerns, culture and tradition. He added that they have been effective in spreading the message during green revolution, polio eradication drive, swatch bharat abhiyan and such other national programmes.
