Twenty three children selected for bravery awards 2010

Twenty three children have been selected for bravery awards for the year 2010. The awards will be presented to them at special function in New Delhi. The awardees include 14 boys and 9 girls. The prestigious Geeta Chopra award goes to 13 year old Jismi PM of Kerala for her exemplary act of bravery. She saved two children from drowning. The Sanjay Chopra award has gone to Priyanshu Joshi of Uttrakhand for saving his sister from a leopard. Vishnudas of Kerala, Moonis Khan from Madhya Pradesh and Miss Ipi Basar of Arunachal Pradesh have been given the Bapu Gaidhani Awards. Kumari Shruti Lodhi of Uttrakhand and Kumari Chhampa Kanwar of Rajasthan have been awarded posthumously. Announcing the awards in New Delhi today Ms. Geeta Siddhartha, President of Indian Council for Child Welfare said that this time there is a good representation from North-East. The other recipients include two from Assam – Km. Kalpana Sonowal and Km. Rekhamoni Sonowal , two from Chhattisgarh – Rahul Kurrey and Km. Parvati Amlesh, Anoop. M. and Raj Narayan of Kerala, Rohit Maruti Mulik from Maharashtra, Md. Nurul Huda of Manipur two from Meghalaya- Freedy Nongsiej and Lovelystar K. Sohphoh, Km. Lalmawizuali of Mizoram, Gurjeevan Singh from Punjab and Shrawah Kumar of Rajasthan, Bibek Sharma from Sikkim, Uttam Kumar of Uttar Pradesh and Km. Sunita Murmu from West Bengal. The awards will be presented ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. These children will be part of the main attractions at the Republic Day parade.
