Twenty three books selected for Sahitya Academy Translation Award

Twenty three books have been selected for Sahitya Academy Translation Award for the year 2010. The prize carries a cash amount worth 50,000 rupees and an engraved copper plaque. The awards will be given to the translators at a special function in August this year.Some of the prominent awardees include Kalidas's Meghdoot which has been translated to Santali from Sanskrit, the Kannada version of Prem Chand's Godan originally written in Hindi, Khuswant's Train to Pakistan which has been translated from English to Manipuri and the Assamese translation of Kannada Novel Marali Mannige written by Gyanpith awardee K Shivram Karanth.
