In China, 25 miners have been killed and several others reported missing in a fire in a coal mine in the central Hunan province. Local government officials said that the accident occurred on Tuesday evening at the Lisheng mine in the city of Xiangtan. The government had earlier said it hoped to find the miners alive. An investigation has been launched into the incident. China's coal mines are among the most dangerous in the world, with safety norms often ignored.
