The President of Turkey Abdullah Gul reached Dhaka today on a two-day state visit to Bangladesh. He was received by Bangladesh President Zillur Rahman and was also given a guard of honour at the airport. The Turkish President is visiting Dhaka at the invitation of his Bangladesh counterpart. His visit is also the first trip of any head of state to Bangladesh since the Awami League-led government assumed power in January last year.<br/><br/> During his stay in Bangladesh, the Turkish President will hold discussions with the President Zillur Rehman , Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina , Leader of Opposition Khaleda Zia, and other ministers. The issue of Trade in addition to other bilateral issues and co-operation in international forums like the OIC are expected to come up for discussion during the Turkish President’s discussions with Bangladesh leaders. The Turkish President will also be conferred a Doctor of Laws degree by Dhaka University tomorrow.
