Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who is on a two day tour to the Gulf region today met with Saudi Arabia's King Salman in Jeddah in a bid to end the current diplomatic crisis over Qatar issue.<br/><br/>Turkey has stood by Qatar during this diplomatic standoff with its other Arab neigbours.<br/><br/>Erdogan said Saudi Arabia had "the greatest responsibility" for resolving the crisis with Qatar.<br/><br/>"The first leg of our visit is to Saudi Arabia, which has turned our relationship with it into a strategic relationship in all fields, and I will discuss issues with the Saudi side, including the Syrian file, and we are determined to further strengthen relations with the Kingdom," Erdogan told reporters at Ataturk International Airport before departing for Jeddah.<br/><br/>Turkish President is also expected to meet the Emir of Kuwait, who is mediating between Gulf crisis, and the Emir of Kuwait during his visit.<br/><br/>One of the initial demands of the Saudi Arabia and the other three boycotting countries was also to reduce the Turkish military base in Doha. However, later the four Arab countries asked Doha to agree to a framework of 'six broad principles', which they say will set the parameters for any future talks on how the crisis will be resolved.<br/><br/>Last month Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt had severed diplomatic ties with Qatar accusing it of terror funding and creating instability in the region. Doha has so far denied these charges. <br/><br/><br/>
