Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Turkey would not remain silent if Israel attacks Lebanon or Gaza. One of the Lebanon’s news agency ‘Naharnet’ reports that he made his remarks during a conference in Lebanon organized by the Union of Arab Banks. In a news conference Erdogan added more criticism of Israel, telling that Israel must put itself in order and it must be more just and more on the side of peace in the region. During the visit, he also inaugurated a Turkish hospital in Sidon in Lebanon last evening in the presence of Prime Minister Saad Hariri and a number of officials. Until recently, Turkey had been one of Israel's most reliable allies in the Muslim world. However, Ankara has taken a stance against Israel over Operation Cast Lead in which 9 Turkish activists were killed in Israeli commando operation, when they were heading for Gaza.
