A Turkish court has sentenced six journalists to life in jail for alleged links to the July 2016 coup plotters. They have been found guilty of links to US-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen, blamed over the failed coup. <br/><br/>The state-run Anadolu news Agency said the court in Silivri, on the outskirts of Istanbul, convicted prominent journalists Ahmet Altan, Mehmet Altan and Nazli Ilicak and three other media sector employees of crimes against the state. One other defendant was acquitted.<br/><br/>More than 38 thousand people, including journalists, are in jail as part of a crackdown on Gulen's network of followers, launched in the aftermath of the coup. More than 110,000 employees have been sacked from government jobs.<br/>Meanwhile, the verdict has been condemned by human rights groups.<br/><br/>
