Tunisia on Tuesday said, it is keen to strengthen its relationship with India and promote cooperation between small and medium units of the two nations. An official release said that Tunisian Ambassador to India Tarek Azouz said this when he called on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Minister Virbhadra Singh in New Delhi.

Mr. Azouz said, at present, India and Tunisia are collaborating in the field of scientific research and striving toward ensuring that the resulting benefits accrue to MSMEs of both the countries. MSMEs contribute 8 per cent to the India's Gross Domestic Product, 45 per cent to manufactured output and 40 per cent to exports. It provides employment to about six crore people through 2.6 crore enterprises.
