Tunisia issues international arrest warrant for deposed President

Tunisia has issued an international arrest warrant for deposed President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and six members of his family while promising an imminent cabinet reshuffle likely to remove some of his loyalists in an effort to end persistent protests in the north African nation.Justice Minister Lazhar Karoui Chebbi said yesterday that Mr. Ben Ali, his wife Leila Trabelsi and other family members are accused of illegally acquiring property and other assets abroad. They are also charged with illegally transferring money out of the country. Mr. Ben Ali fled Tunisia on January 14 amid the eruption of unrest over unemployment, rising prices and corrupt rule.
