US President Donald Trump today lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he has been working successfully to bring the vast country and its people together. <br/><br/>Speaking at a gathering of CEOs on the sidelines of the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in the Vietnamese port city of Danang, President Trump also praised India's astounding growth after it opened its economy. <br/><br/>He pointed out that India was celebrating the 70th anniversary of its independence. President Trump highlighted that India was a sovereign democracy with a population of 1.3 billion as well as the largest democracy in the world. <br/><br/>In his address, Trump also praised countries like Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Japan.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Modi is leaving for the Philippines on Sunday to attend the India-ASEAN and East Asia summits. <br/><br/>Trump is also scheduled to attend the East Asia Summit, a key meeting between ASEAN and eight of its partners.
