Trump administration to defend decades-old economic embargo on Cuba at UN

US President, Donald Trump's administration has said it will defend the country's decades-old economic embargo on Cuba at the United Nations. State Department spokesperson, Heather Nauert yesterday said the US will give a "no" in a vote today. <br/><br/>She said Cuba has engaged in human rights abuses for far too long. The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution calling for the lifting of the embargo every year for 25 years, with support of many countries. <br/><br/>But the US under President Barack Obama abstained for the first time last year, following the restoration of bilateral relations. Trump has criticized the Obama administration for improving relations with Cuba and announced a review of that policy.
