Tropical Storm Muifa has left three people dead and one missing in South Korea today after sweeping up the Chinese coast. South Korean officials said Muifa destroyed hundreds of power lines, disrupting power to thousands of houses in southwestern provinces. Korean Meteorological department officials said that Muifa will weaken as it passes over the Korean peninsula. Before it was downgraded, Typhoon Muifa battered the Chinese eastern port city of Qingdao with high waters and heavy surf. China's official Xinhua news agency said more than 100,000 people have been evacuated to safer places in Shandong province. Muifa claimed several lives as it passed through the Philippines last week. It also lashed the Japanese island of Okinawa on Friday.
