Senior BJP leader, Pratima Bhowmik who was elected an MLA from the Dhanpur Legislative Assembly constituency in the recently concluded Tripura Legislative Assembly election today resigned from her seat. Bhowmik's resignation comes just a day ahead of the oath-taking ceremony of the new MLAs to be held tomorrow.<br />''<br />''Talking to reporters, Ms. Bhowmik, who is the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment said, as per rule, she cannot be an MLA and an MP at the same time. She said her party, the BJP, had asked her to contest from the Dhanpur Assembly seat. Ms. Bhowmik had defeated her nearest rival from CPI (M) Kaushik Chanda.
