In Tripura, polling for the 28 seat Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council election will be held from 7 am to 5 pm on Sunday. State Election Commissioner S. K. Rakesh told AIR this evening that elaborate arrangements have been made for free, fair and peaceful voting. In all, 175 candidates are in the fray and five to nine candidates are locked in multi-cornered fight in many of the seats. The counting of votes would take place on May 6 and all the results are likely to be out by the afternoon, the same day.State IGP (Law & Order ) Anurag Dhankar informed that 13, 000 security personnel are being deployed for the polling. Besides 6900 TSR and 4000 state police personnel, 21 companies of Central Police forces have been deployed, he said.
