Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya have got their own High Courts. Mr. Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre, Judge of Chhattisgarh High Court, has been sworn-in as the first Chief Justice of Manipur High Court. The State Governor Gurbachan Jagat administered the oath of office to Mr. Justice Sapre in Imphal today.
The first Chief Justice of the new Tripura High Court will be sworn in today. The Governor of Bihar and Tripura Dr. D Y Patil will administer the oath of office to Justice Deepak Gupta as the Chief Justice along with three other Judges of the High Court of Tripura.
The new High Court of Manipur will be opened by Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar in presence of Chief Justice of India Justice Altamas Kabir on Monday.
The centre has constituted three new High Courts for North Eastern states. With these, the number of High Courts in India has now gone up from 21 to 24.
