In Tripura, the government has finalised the constitution of State Academic Authority and State Advisory Council to ensure implementation of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act-2009. State Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty today said in Agartala, that the government had been trying to ensure free and compulsory education for all students up to class VIII and the new Act broadens the scope. He said the government was all set to implement the Act from this academic year. Mr Chakraborty maintained that as part of the act, a complete ban would be in place on private tuition by teachers, physical and mental punishment for students besides, realisation of capitation fees by private schools.
