In Tripura, the stage is all set for by-election to the Nalchar assembly constituency in Sipahijala district today. Returning officer Shankar Chakraborty said strict security measures were taken by the Election Commission for peaceful conduct of the poll. The seat fell vacant following the death of ruling CPI(M) MLA Sukumar Burman on March 10. Four candidates have filed their nominations, with the main contest between CPI-M contender Tapan Chandra Das and Congress nominee Dwijendralal Majumder. Altogether 33,392 people are eligible to exercise their franchise. Counting for the by-polls would be held on June 15.
