Trinamool using crime and terror in polls: BJP to EC

BJP today urged the Election Commission to ensure free and fair polls in the coming phases of assembly election in West Bengal alleging that the ruling Trinamool Congress is using crime and terror in polls.

The party submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission in New Delhi stating that most of the observers are neither visible nor available. The memorandum was signed by Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, party general secretary Bhupender Yadav, secretary Sidharth Nath Singh and Om Pathak.

The memorandum said the commission has still not addressed the issues raised by the party during earlier meetings.
The party had requested for flag march by central forces and patrolling in sensitive and extra sensitive constituencies but this is not being conducted despite assurances by the Commission. BJP also requested for effective measures by the commission to prevent use of muscle power and create an atmosphere of free and fair elections.
