The Trinamool Congress, TMC, has withdrawn its support to the UPA government at the Centre. The TMC, which has 19 Lok Sabha MPs, yesterday handed over a letter to the President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee withdrawing the party's support to the Manmohan Singh government. A Rashtrapati Bhawan communique said that the party has withdrawn its support to the UPA government with immediate effect. Six Trinamool Congress Ministers also resigned from the Manmohan Singh government. The Ministers – Mukul Roy, Sudip Bandhyopadhyay, Sultan Ahmed, Saugata Roy, Sisir Adhikary and C.M. Jatua went to the Prime Minister's residence and submitted their resignations. While receiving the resignation letters, the Prime Minister said, he is sad that they are resigning. Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee had on Tuesday announced a decision to withdraw support to the UPA government protesting the Centre's decisions to hike diesel prices, withdraw subsidy on cooking gas and allow FDI in multi-brand retail. The Congress has decided to withdraw all its ministers in Mamta Banerjee-led West Bengal government. The Congress Core Group, which met in New Delhi last evening, decided that all its ministers in Mamata Banerjee government will tender their resignations this evening. Meanwhile, the government has asserted that the exit of Trinamool Congress from the UPA will not affect its stability as it has the necessary numbers. Parliamentary Affairs Minister P.K. Bansal said, the government enjoys the support of more than 272 MPs required for majority in Lok Sabha.Samajwadi Party has pledged to continue its support to the UPA government. The SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav told reporters in New Delhi that although his party is not a part of UPA, it will continue to support the alliance to prevent communal forces coming to power at the Centre. DMK Chief M Karunanidhi indicated at continuing his party's support to the UPA government. He told reporters in Chennai that his party doesn't act in haste when it comesto alliances.
