TRIFED decides to revamp its marketing strategy to provide enhanced benefits to forest dwellers

Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited, TRIFED has decided to revamp its marketing strategy to provide enhanced benefits to forest dwellers.

Its Managing Director Jiji Thomson said the TRIFED, which was started in 1987 with a view to sell tribal produce at fair price, will now focus on Minor Forest Produce, MFP and facilitate tribals to gain better knowledge and improved skills in the collection, processing and storage of items such as honey, gum karaya, lac and mahua.

The move comes in the wake of two major laws that the government has enacted to empower the tribals. Tribal Affairs Minister V Kishore Chandra Deo will inaugurate the silver jubilee celebrations of TRIFED in New Delhi today.
