The nation pays homage today to the veteran freedom fighter and former Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his 105th birth anniversary. The day is also being celebrated as Samta Diwas.

Babu Jagjivan Ram strove for over fifty years to usher in a just and egalitarian society and empowering the underpriviledged. Homage will be paid at his samadhi in Delhi, Samta Sthal. A sarva Dharma Prarthna Sabha and a memorial lecture by Nobel Peace Prize winner Ms. Tawakkol Karman of Yemen will be organised to mark the day.
