Trial of Inderjit Singh Reyat accused of lying under oath in kanishka bombing case deferred

The trial of Inderjit Singh Reyat, accused of lying under oath during his testimony in the AirIndia plane Kanishka bombing case, in a case of alleged perjury has been deferred yet again till May 18. Reyat was charged four years ago with lying 27 times during his testimony at the trial of Ripudaman Singh Malik and Ajaib Singh Bagri, both of whom were acquitted of involvement in the Kanishka bombings. Trial was scheduled to begin last Monday after at least three adjournments. But in a rare action, the entire jury was dismissed over an apparent racial remark by a juror that the judge feared had tainted other members of the jury. The judge reset jury selection for Monday, with a trial set for March 22.
