Tri-series cricket match between Lanka-New Zealand called off

At Dambulla, today's one-day tri-series cricket match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was called off without a ball being bowled due to rains. The match will be replayed on the reserve day tomorrow. Earlier, New Zealand captain had won the toss and elected to bat, but rain at Rangiri Dambulla stadium prevented the scheduled start. The rain stopped about 90 minute later and staff dried the ground for a match with a reduced number of overs. However, poor weather soon returned and persisted for hours, forcing Australian match referee Alan Hurst to call off the match.
