Kargil has a Trauma Center at its District Hospital, now. The centre was inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma on Saturday. He also inaugurated ANMT School and one Day NRHM Summelan in Kargil.Sham Lal Sharma said that for Asha workers of NRHM the Government has sanctioned one thousand rupees for purchasing uniforms for each Workers. He also announced five hundred rupees more for buying sweaters and Jersey. He said , of the 346 Posts for Male Multipurpose workers sanctioned for the state in health sector, 67 are for Kargil District. The Minister directed the Council to engage eligible candidates for these posts within 15 days.For the development of infrastructure in health sector, the minister announced an amount of 1.75 crore rupees under NRHM. He said that those doctors who are selected at any post under special category have to serve for Seven years in that particular region, which will be mandatory for freshly appointed doctors.
