Trapped Chilean miners arrive safely at surface

The first of 33 miners trapped in a Chilean mine for almost 10 weeks arrived safely at the surface today.Florencio Avalos, 31, appeared in good health as he emerged from a rescue capsule. He was greeted by his family. He also got a hug from Chilean President Sebastian Pinera. The jubilant scenes were carried live around the world.The capsule has been sent back down to pick up his trapped co-workers in a drawn-out process to be completed over two days.Avalos's safe return from more than 600 meters below ground after more than 68 days represented a new record. It is also an amazing feat of human endurance against all odds.
