Transport strike disrupts normal life in Nepal

In Nepal, normal life has been disrupted in various parts of the country today following a transport strike called by the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) to pressurise the political parties for timely drafting of the new constitution. Private and public vehicles have largely remained off the road while the strike has totally disrupted long distance transport services in Kathmandu and other districts. According to police, bandh supporters have vandalised some vehicles in Kathmandu city for violating the strike call. Police have detained about three dozen NEFIN cadres. A large number of security personnel have been deployed in different parts of the capital to ensure law and order.
