In Jammu and Kashmir, Transport Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon along with the Committee, set up to conduct survey of Kargil airport to ensure round the year air connectivity, visited Kargil and made on the spot inspection of Kargil Airport and looked for the possibilities for operation of Civil Air Service from Kargil to other parts of India. The team also conducted a meeting with the LAJDC Kargil and discussed about the flow of passenger in case of operation of Air Service, Cargo Service and flow of tourists and other business points. The committee was assured for adequate flow of passengers in case of operation of civil air service and the company who starts operation will be in great profit. Talking to AIR Correspondent, Mr Qamar said that this is the fourth meeting in this regard and the three member committee will present a detailed report of their findings to the Union Civil Aviation Ministry. He also said that there is a possibility of operating civil air service from Kargil by the ending of this year if all goes as planned. The meeting was attended by CEC LAHDC Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive Councilors, and MLC kargil, Councilors, Commissioner Civil Aviation, Mr S. Katoch, Director Srinagar Airport Authority, Captain R. K. Malik and other District Officers.
