The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Dr. C.P Joshi said that, his ministry has awarded projects for 7957 kms for roads and Highways in the last fiscal. Out of this he said, 6491 kms is being executed in 49 projects of the National Highway Authority of India, NHAI while 1466 kms are being executed by the State agencies in 13 projects.
Speaking to newsmen in New Delhi yesterday, Dr. Joshi said his ministry has done 54 per cent better than last year and the credit goes to advance planning, collective efforts and the support from the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the Finance Ministry. He also said, a major factor in the tremendous growth has been transparency and objectivity in the tendering process.
