Training programmes of sportspersons being undertaken for CW Games

The Government today said that massive training programmes have been undertaken for elite sportspersons to prepare them for Commonwealth Games, to be hosted by India this October. The Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr M S Gill said in the Lok Sabha that excellent training facilities are being provided under a special scheme to maximize the medals tally for the mega sports event. He said the government has even hired foreign coaches wherever required. 195 coaches and nearly 80 other technical support personnel are involved in the effort to provide intensive training to the selected core probables with exposure both at home and abroad. He said that as an incentive, the medal winners in the Commonwealth Games will be awarded cash prizes by the government.
