In West Bengal power supply has been severely affected due to failure of the Eastern Grid. Large parts of Kolkata and adjourning District were without electricity for several hours. Train services in Howrah, Sealdah and Asansol Divisions have also been affected. The State Power Minister Mr. Manish Gupta told that, efforts are on to bring normally at different power generating station in the State. Our Kolkata Correspondent Arijit Chakraborty reports that, a number of long distance trains have been cancelled. Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee reviewed the situation at a high level meeting in Kolkata this afternoon. Different State Government offices were closed before schedule time for non availability of power. However, Metro train services in Kolkata have remained unaffected. According to latest report train services have been partially resumed this evening in some route. The State Government has decided to run additional 250 buses at different destinations to deal with the situation.
