The North-East Frontier Railway has introduced the country’s longest-ever train route with induction of a new weekly train between Dibrugarh and Kanyakumari. It will cover a distance of 4286 kilometers in 82.30 hours. The new train, christened as “Vivek Express” will be formally flagged off by the Union Minister of State for Development of North-East and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Paban Singh Ghatowar at Dibrugarh tomorrow.
The train will leave Dibrugarh on every Saturday at 23.45 hours reaching Kanyakumari on Wednesday at 10.25 hours. In return direction, it will leave Kanyakumari on every Saturday at 14.00 hours reaching Dibrugarh on Wednesday at 03.30 hours.
The train will have 18 coaches with sleepers, general and air conditioned coaches. The train will run via Goalpara – New Bongaigaon – Alipurduar Junction – Maldah Town – Durgapur – Asansol – Adra – Midnapur – Vijaywada, Jolapettai – Salem Junction – Coimbatore Junction – Ernakulam – Thiruvanantapuram – Kanyakumari.
