Train collision in Bengal kills 1, injures 67

In West Bengal, one person was killed and 67 injured when two trains collided in Nadia district last night. Officials said, the head-on collision took place when the Shantipur-Sealdah local which was coming from the opposite direction hit the stationary Sealdah-Shantipur local train waiting at platform number 2 of Phulia station. Only five of the 67 injured are now in local civil hospitals, while the remaining were released after first-aid. Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi announced an ex-gratia compensation of five lakh rupees to the nearest kin of the deceased and 50,000 rupees for those injured.
