Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, TRAI on Friday released a Consultation Paper on Telecommunication Infrastructure Sharing, Spectrum Sharing and Spectrum Leasing. Department of Telecommunications had informed TRAI last year that to promote optimum resource utilization among the licensees, it is proposed to allow sharing of all kinds of telecom infrastructure and network elements among all categories of service providers. It had sought TRAI's recommendations on this issue.<br />'' <br />'' Considering the request of stakeholders to permit inter-band spectrum sharing and leasing of spectrum, the issues related to spectrum sharing and leasing of spectrum have also been taken up along with the issues relating to infrastructure sharing.<br />'' <br />''The Consultation Paper has been placed on TRAI's website - www.trai.gov.in. Written comments on the issues raised in the Consultation Paper have been invited from the stakeholders by 10th February and counter-comments by 24th February.
