The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has reduced ceiling tariffs for national roaming service from first of May and directed telecom companies to offer special roaming tariff plan from the same date. According to the reduced tariff, outgoing local voice call on roaming will cost 80 paise per minute while incoming local call charges on roaming will be 45 paise per minute. Whereas the Outgoing STD or long diatance call will be reduced to 1.15 rupees per minute from the existing 1.50 rupees per minute. The outgoing local SMS on national roaming will now coast 25 paise per SMS from the present one rupee. At present, outgoing voice call and SMS on the National roaming costs one rupee per minute. Talking to reporters in New Delhi TRAI Secretary Sudhir Gupta said that all subscribers will benefit from the reduced ceilings and competitive pricing below the new ceiling levels is expected.
