TRAI recommends sharing of all telecom spectrum

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, TRAI has recommended sharing of all categories of airwaves held by operators. However the regulatory body has suggested restriction of spectrum sharing to maximum two operators only. The move will help companies significantly reduce cost of mobile services. In an official release TRAI said that all spectrum will be shared provided that both the licensees are having spectrum in the same band. At present, telecom operators are allowed to share infrastructure like mobile towers which help them reduce operational cost but not like spectrum. The regulator has also recommended that the government should allow sharing of even 3G spectrum which was specifically barred earlier.
