In Jammu and Kashmir, a major tragedy was averted on oday when police detected and defused an improvised explosive device placed under a bridge on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, near Srinagar. <br/><br/>A police spokesman said, terrorists had planted the IED, weighing 2.3 kilograms, under Naina Bridge near Bijbehara, to target security vehicles plying on the highway. He said, the IED contained 17 AK-47 rounds, nine electronic detonators, one grenade and 1.5 kilograms explosive material.<br/>
