In Jammu and Kashmir, Police and Security forces averted a major tragedy and foiled a nefarious plan of terrorists to carry out strikes in the border district of Poonch with the recovery of a huge quantity of arms ammunition and explosives from a militant hideout.According to official sources, acting on a specific information about the hideout of terrorists, Police and Rashtriya Rifles launched joint search operation in Narr-Mankot area of Mendhar in Poonch district. The suspected area was cordoned off and during the search, troops noticed natural hideout of terrorists which was smashed.From the hideout Security Forces recovered 2 kilogram RDX, AK 74 rifle, with 120 rounds and 4 Magazines, 4 Chinese Grenades, one wireless set, 25 gelatin sticks and 4 Ruck -Sack bags. No one was arrested by the security forces from the hideout.AIR correspondent R.K. Raina reports from Jammu that searches have been launched in the entire area to look for the militants and their harbourers who are believed to have dumped the consignment of arms in the hideout. During past few days Pakistani troops have resorted to heavy firing on Indian positions in Mendhar and Krishna Ghati sectors of Poonch district with a view to push infiltrators into this side. However, majority of such attempts have been foiled by the alert Army troops. Meanwhile an encounter took place between security forces and police with a group of militants at Gujjar Mohalla in Keshwan area of Kishtwar district last evening. Exchange of firing between the two sides continued for more than two hours after which the militants managed to escape. However, security forces and Police continued searches to capture the militants, who were believed to be three in number.
