Trade, investment and defence cooperation high on agenda of Japanese PM's discussions with Indian leaders

Trade, investment, security and defence cooperation are high on the agenda of Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama’s discussions with Indian leaders. The visiting dignitary met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at his residence and exchanged views on a host of issues. The UPA Chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi also called on him. AIR correspondent reports that today’s summit meeting between the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Japanese counterpart is expected to give a new momentum to bilateral ties.<br/><br/>Ahead of arriving in the national capital on Monday, the Japanese Prime Minister visited Mumbai. During his meetings with captains of Indian industry in Mumbai, Mr Hatoyama stressed the need to intensify bilateral trade with India, particularly in infrastructure and technology.<br/><br/><br/>
