The Government is making efforts to reduce trade deficit with China.Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman saidthis in the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that the trade basket withemphasis on manufactured goods is being diversified. The Government is also pursuing market access issues to tackle non-tariff barriers in the Chinese market at various fora. Trade related issues are beingtaken up regularly at Ministerial level under India-China Joint Groupon Economic Relations, Trade Science and Technology (JEG). Indian exporters are also encouraged to participate in major trade fairs inChina and increase engagement with Chinese companies.
